Library mission & vision

The New South Branch Library

This new 18,800 square feet structure with a 65,000-collection, dedicated areas for children, teens, and adults, collaborative study rooms, an art gallery space in the lobby, and a courtyard which surrounds and protects the Heritage Live Oak Tree, was a collaborative effort between Baton Rouge based GFP Architects and Interiors and Multistudio of New Orleans.

We Take Pride in Our Community

EBRPL is a vital part of the capitol city and contributes to the quality of life, enjoyment, and enlightenment of our diverse and dynamic citizens. The library is open 7 days a week, operates bookmobiles and community outreach services, hosts and curates hundreds of programs and events for children, teens, and adults, and collaborates daily with a network of artists, writers, schools, Church groups, and parents in the greater Baton Rouge area. The Special Collections Department also houses the Baton Rouge Room, one of the largest archives of Louisiana history, including photographs, manuscripts, documents, periodical publications, audiotapes, and memorabilia.
