About the Eden Park Branch Library

Overview of the Eden Park Branch Library

14,026 square feet

Opened: 1981
Rebuilt and reopened: January 11, 2007

Originally opened in 1981 as part of the Eden Park Community Center on Gus Young Avenue, now known as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, the Eden Park Branch Library includes a covered drive-through at the entrance and a beautifully landscaped courtyard with covered seating area.
Designed by Tipton Associates APAC, this 14,026 square foot library replaces the 2,285 square foot building.

The Library’s interior was designed by Traci LaMoyne of LaMoyne Design Associates.
The signage, carpentry, and furnishings reflect a “celestial” theme throughout, which compliments the building’s use of light and glass.

This branch also includes raised flooring to provide flexibility and facilitate wiring and other future technology needs of the structure, as well as state-of-the-art shelving with attached lighting, a new design feature for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library system.
